What a trip! NYC could not have been more fun and I was so honored to have been invited to such an incredible event with Dress for Success.
I live right outside of NYC, so taking the train in takes about 30 mins! I went in and met my friend Sarah at the hotel – which worked out GREAT. We stayed at the Kimpton Eventi right in Chelsea because it was right next to the venue where the Dress for Success Breakfast was hosted. The hotel rooms were spacious (for NYC!), modern, and the hotel not only had great “hang out” spaces downstairs, but a full bar with coffee, in addition to complimentary coffee in the morning, AND best part? Between 5 and 6- they have a FREE wine hour which is unheard of in NY. It was worth it to stay there just for that! HA!

After we had a delicious lunch at the restaurant in the hotel, we walked to get blowouts at the Dry Bar which was SUCH a treat! It was a pretty space, the staff were amazing, and Sarah and I were both super happy with how our hair turned out.

After our blowouts we headed back to meet the other girls, spent some really nice (and much needed!) girl time chatting and drinking the (free ;)) wine from the hotel wine hour before heading out to Tao for dinner! Surprisingly it was my first time at Tao! We went to the downtown location and it was delicious and such a fun atmosphere.

We woke up bright and early the next morning for the big Dress for Success Event! The venue was called Second Floor and what a cool event space! Big, bright windows – very NYC-feeling. There was swag at our tables from the sponsors of the event, Stella & Dot included!

Highlights of the event: of course, hearing from Katie Couric. She could NOT have been more gracious, more warm and welcoming, or more genuine. And she was FUNNY! SO funny. I literally wanted to hang out with her for hours.

Other highlights – seeing Olivia Palermo up close and hearing from her and what extraordinary work she does for the organization. It was really powerful. We heard from women who’s lives have been directly impacted by Dress for Success and that was SO cool! I felt honored to be in that room.
Every time a woman joins Stella & Dot as a Stylist, $50 is donated to Dress for Success on the behalf of our company and so I was chosen to attend this event because I’m one of the top in our company for helping other women start their Stella & Dot gigs. Not much I love more than empowering other women to live a life on their own terms, to bring in a second or third stream of income, and to do it in an uplifting and supportive community.

After the event we changed into our comfies and went out shopping in Soho. But first – stopped at the CUTEST little coffee shop with THE most amazing homemade cookies and pastries. I got my first lavender latte and I was completely obsessed.
What could be better than an afternoon with friends on a beautiful day in NYC shopping and walking around? Well – there was one problem – I wanted everything haha. BUT I was very proud of myself. Practiced self-restraint and I made a mental list of a couple things I’m going to buy for myself once I hit some specific personal goals. Love making that pact with myself.
What a whirlwind couple of days. It was truly one of my favorite quick trips – mostly because of the company I was with. So lucky Stella&Dot brought us all together and how special to be given these opportunities for experiences of a lifetime.
