Hair Routine!

December 27, 2019

I’m Julie.
After my life transformed through style, my mission became sharing that process to help women experience that same magic - to live out the life of their dreams, too.

I was SO nervous to cut my hair because I had my long hair routine DOWN! I had been using my magic hair tool for years and I was so scared of messing that up and having no idea what to do with shorter hair. Luckily, I actually LOVE styling my shorter hair AND find it way easier and more fun! I’ve finally found this perfect combination of products and tools that has me really loving the shine, style, and texture of my hair. With that said, I have naturally curly hair and do a Brazilian blowout/keratin treatment about every 8 months. I should do it every 4 or 5 but I always end up waiting longer. I also need to say that I am NOT a hair stylist by any means and don’t have background in hair – I’ve just always loved styling hair and makeup, too! It’s the “girly” side of me!

So with that said – here is what I do and the products I LOVE!

For the blowout/straight out of the salon look!

  1. I wash my hair about every 4/5 days depending on how sweaty I get working out that week. I’ve been using this shampoo and this conditioner totally loving it!

  2. When I get out of the shower I use this hair towel to soak up the excess water as I’m doing my makeup to cut down on the blow-dry time. I’ve been using it for years!

  3. I always spray a prep/protectant in my hair to shield from the heat to reduce damage from blowdrying. I’ve been using this one and it’s great – it’s an amazing brand that’s always recommended by my hair stylists!

  4. Next, I’ll use this hairdryer to get my hair MOSTLY dry. Now – let me just say – this is an investment for SURE. It is very expensive. Adam eventually caved and got it for me for my birthday three years ago and I’ve been using it every since. I swear it makes my hair softer, more shiny, and it blowdries my hair faster than any blowdryer I’ve used!

  5. This one is new for me, but after my hair is mostly dry, I’ll use AH-MAZING blowdryer to give me that salon finish. The reason that I don’t use this to completely dry my hair is because it would not only take forever, but it gets VERY hot and it’s RIGHT on your hair because of the brush so I like to cut down on the time that it’s so close to my hair because the longer it’s there, the more damaging it can be! However, I pull down with the brush almost diagonally toward my face while using this so that it pulls it inward for that nice little scoop at the bottom.

  6. Use the littlest bit of this oil rubbed together in my hands for flyaways and throughout to give it that last bit of shine.

I keep my hair straight for a couple of days, at least. I like to dress it up with a clip on the side or throw a headband in for a little bit of a different look, but my hair stays so well with this system!

NOW – this is how I get another couple of days in before washing again and for a completely different look than straight (even with working out!) Gives it some style, a little bit of bend, and it takes me probably three minutes total!

(PS when we were in New Orleans, I wore my hair like this and a hairdresser at the bar we were sitting at told me I had great hair! Totally made my night! Well – let’s be honest – it made my whole week LOL)

  1. I spray dry shampoo in the roots and let it sit while I do step two before I get my fingers in there to work it in and suck up the oil.

  2. THIS automatic curler I’ve been using for YEARS! It’s the ONLY curler I’ve used for literally the last 5 years. I don’t even know how to use a regular curler lol – because I don’t have to know! I take little sections of my hair and alternate curling toward and away from my face, leaving some straight sections in-between. I leave the curler on each section for probably about 15-20 seconds or so. Depends how tight you want the curl. For this look I’ve been doing it’s more of a messy, natural looking waves I don’t leave it in very long at all. I do this all around my head. The pieces at the very front of my head I curl away from my face.

  3. Now that the curls are done, I work my fingers into my scalp to really let the dry shampoo get into my roots to soak away the oil and it also volumizes my hair at my roots.

  4. Lastly, I finish off with a little bit of hairspray (although I’ve been leaving the hairspray out recently, but this is the hairspray I really love) and I’ll spray a texturizer spray which has been a game-changer for me in terms of volume and style. I have two that I love and adore and alternate between – this one and this one.

And… that’s it! Will be posting IGTV videos on my Instagram for full video tutorials so make sure to check there (@juliekrausxo). Hope you found any tip or product in this post that was helpful <3
