Let’s take a moment to appreciate booties! They’re a shoe you can wear all fall and winter and they take your outfit up a notch! And the right ones? Just as comfortable as sneakers! There are booties with skinny, stiletto-like heels, there are booties with a low chunky heel, and then there are booties that are flat. Choose what’s most comfortable for you! If you like a little heel, go for a low, block heel. If you’re like “no heel – no way!” there are amazing no-heel options. And if you’re a high heel type of gal – rock that stiletto bootie!
Regardless of which type of bootie you’re wearing – let’s talk about how to style them with skinny jeans! You know when it looks good in your head, but then you get that bunching where the bootie meets the jean and you’re like “hmmmm I’m not sure if this looks so good”… Let’s talk about how to get around that so you can accomplish the look you were going for, but in a way that works effortlessly.
The DO’s and DON’Ts of styling skinny jeans and booties.
Pairing skinny jeans and booties seems simple right? Well yes, it can be but I want to dive into the best way to style them so they work well together for a sleek, pulled together look.
Depending on the pair of jeans you choose, you might experience bunching around the ankles. Which of course; this typically is where the jeans and booties meet. BUT let’s fix that!
and the secret sauce…
About a half inch of skin showing between the top of the bootie and the bottom of the jean.
It’s going to be most flattering AND the jean and the bootie won’t be competing! (i.e – no bunching!)
The type of cuff you choose may also depend on how much “extra” jean is left over that may require cuffing.
For example: someone shorter may need to cuff more than if you’re taller, but nonetheless the look still looks polished and put together whether you’re on the petite side or if your legs are long!
Not a fan of the cuffed look or just want to try something new today?
No problem! You can easily just tuck the bottom of your jeans into the bootie.
You know what is awesome about styling skinny jeans and booties? You can switch between cuffing and tucking the jeans to create a slightly different vibe each time you wear them and depending on which jean and which bootie you’re wearing!
