50 Things You Might Not Know About Me

September 10, 2019

I’m Julie.
After my life transformed through style, my mission became sharing that process to help women experience that same magic - to live out the life of their dreams, too.

50 things you might not know about me:

  1. I  have 3 siblings – 2 sisters and a brother
  2. I always thought I’d have at least 3 kids until I had my kids super close in age (which was not on purpose) They’re 13 months apart. They have BIG personalities. Enough said. Lol.
  3. I had a miscarriage before Olivia.
  4. My dad was on the cover of Tennis Magazine back in the day. He also won the Big Ten Championship at the University of Michigan.
  5. I have a weird insecurity about wearing my hair up and about my ears sticking out.
  6. I have bunions so it’s super hard to find shoes that are comfortable for me.
  7. My hair is naturally wavy/curly.
  8. I played singles on the High School Varsity Tennis Team when I was in 7th grade (and that was also probably the peak of my tennis career haha).
  9. I always wanted to be an actress.
  10. I could eat sushi every day and not get sick of it.
  11. I’m a big dessert girl – love candy and sweets.
  12. Adam and I were set up by our best friends our junior year in college.
  13. Adam and said best friend played football together at UofM so me and my best friend, Jackie, would drive to every away game within driving distance – we even slept in our car when we didn’t know anyone in the college town we were visiting (typing that out it sounds like it wasn’t the best idea lol)
  14. Real Housewives and everything in the Bachelor franchise is my guilty pleasure.
  15. I love baths.
  16. I dislike showering and “hair wash” days.
  17. I have at least 2 cups of coffee a day.
  18. I’m a morning person and a creature of habit.
  19. I am pretty shy in “real life”.
  20. I have a Masters in Special Education and was a Special Ed Teacher for 5 years. I also am 3 classes away from a second Masters in School Counseling.
  21. I’m very indecisive!
  22. I have no patience for reading directions.
  23. I get overwhelmed very easily.
  24. My pet-peeve is when people make excuses – even though I’m very guilty of doing this myself.
  25. I’m a big crier.
  26. I got married at 24.
  27. Even though I’ve come a VERY long way, I still worry about what people think of me.
  28. I only gained 14 lbs when I was pregnant with Olivia because I was sick with no appetite. But she was still 8lbs 9oz.
  29. We were on Property Brothers when Steven was only 6 weeks old. (And yes – Drew and Jonathan are as nice as they seem!)
  30. I’m a homebody.
  31. My love language is: all the love languages.
  32. My favorite thing about growing up in NY was going to see broadway shows.
  33. I used to get made fun of for being so pale. It was a huge insecurity of mine.
  34. If I get less than 7 hours of sleep I pretty much can’t function the next day.
  35. I’m not good at figuring out technology.
  36. I live less than a mile from my parents.
  37. I talk to my dad on the phone (even though #36) at least 3 times a day.
  38. I have a hard time relaxing – I always feel like I need to be productive.
  39. I’m a healthy eater, but not a good cook. Probably because I have no patience to read directions.
  40. I used to talk myself out of “doing” Stella&Dot because I was afraid people wouldn’t take me seriously or would think I was “icky”. Thank goodness I didn’t let those thoughts get in the way moving forward!
  41. I am very sensitive (and not proud of that).
  42. I feel left out very easily.
  43. I have a denim problem – I LOVE jeans.
  44. I listen to podcasts every day – I’m always trying to grow personally and professionally.
  45. The person I admire most is my husband.
  46. My sisters are my best friends.
  47. I always got good grades – not because I’m “naturally” smart but because I worked really hard.
  48. I NEVER thought I’d be doing what I do now as a “career” but I’ve never been happier – I believe my journey with Stella&Dot has changed me for the better in so many ways.
  49. Blogging is new to me and sort of scary – I catch myself comparing myself a lot – but so far I really really love it!
  50. I can’t believe I came up with 50 things about myself lol – and if you’ve made it this far – I hope you leave a comment and reach out so I can learn more about you!

I love this list! #11, 18, 21, 23, 27, 34, 47, but especially #6 & #42 resonate with me. I love shoes but can’t wear most of them, even after one bunion surgery, and i always feel like I’m being left out of something when I know that it’s probably mostly in my head. I’ve only meant you once but you exude warmth and approachability. I’m enjoying the blog!

Do you feel like the bunion surgery was worth it? I’ve heard mixed reviews! And honestly – that’s why I started pouring myself into my work the past few years. I was so sick of worrying about it and wanted to fill myself and my time with positivity and create a space where everyone feels welcome 🙂 Thanks again for reading. So sweet.
